Anyone want a cat? I have one I'll pay you to take. Her name is Twinkletoes, and she has a chewing problem.

She has a knack for chewing important things: my wedding shoes, the strap that bound my dad's scrapbook that I was making him as a Christmas gift. Today was a new low: my laptop power cord. I get up to go to the bathroom, come back to a dimmed (battery power) screen and my power cord with a large gash in it.

I am not going to kill my cat. I am not going to kill my cat. I am not going to kill my cat. I am not going to kill my cat. I am not going to kill my cat.

She's rubbing up against my legs wanting attention. She REALLY doesn't want the attention that I want to give her right now.

Fabulous weekend celebrating 2nd enniversary [Jun. 19th, 2005|09:40 pm]

As I mentioned before, we signed up for a Marriage Encounter retreat. I've loved retreats ever since I was in HS- went from being a recipient to being a presenter, and stuck with it all through HS. Got away from it in college, and haven't been on one in 7 years. Marriage Encounter is a Catholic funded organization that does weekend retreats for Christians in general, and Catholics specifically. Its geared towards those with good relationships who want to become even closer, not those who are on the brink of divorce. My parents have been encouraging us to go on one since we married and we finally got everything together and went.

It was wonderful. I consider Caleb and I to have a pretty darn good relationship, and we learned SO much about each other. The format is a topic/talk is given, you're given a question, have 10-15 minutes to write separately on it, meet back in your rooms and discuss it. The questions ranged from "what is the quality of my spouse I most appreciate?" to discussing death and other deep topics. You think you know your spouse so well, but Caleb really suprised me with some of his answers and thoughts, and I know I surprised him as well. It really was a weekend to remember and cherish. We hope to do them every few years to connect because this one was so fulfilling. For those of you that are Christian/Catholic, I REALLY recommend this weekend- it really was one for us to remember, and for the registration fee of $55 we had our own private room, and all the food and materials provided.

The weekend was held at the St Marlo Retreat house, where Pope John Paul II stayed when he visited Denver for World Youth Day back in the 1993. My experience with retreats/camps consisted of large cabins, usually wood stove heated (quite fun in Alaska in January), with communal bathrooms that you thanked God if the toilets actually flushed, and were a frosty jog from your cabin. So I was prepared to say the least. I was completely taken away at the facilities, while certainly not posh, were at least on the scale of a standard Best Western or Holiday Inn.

So I guess I'll get to the good stuff- Pics!

Well, after not journaling for awhile due to some issues, I've found I really miss it, so I'm starting back up again. I had a journal for quite some time on another site, but didn't care for the lack of privacy, so this will hopefully be my new home.

As these will all be friends entries, you should all now the basics about me:
Name: Jessica
Husband: Caleb
Married: 6-21-03
Profession: full time student
Happily married with 2 cats, living in Colorado. Grew up in Alaska. Blah Blah Blah

Yep, I live a boring life. But I'm pretty happy with the way it is turning out.
